Why consider forehead contouring?

In the quest to achieve the most authentic facial feminization results, one must consider every aspect of the face and head, as each part plays a role in creating a softer, more elegant aesthetic.

A masculine forehead is larger, with bony ridges and protruding orbital rims that often slope forward. With forehead contouring, these bones may be shaved down for a flatter, smoother, and rounder appearance that is more congruent with traditionally feminine features.

In those cases where the forehead requires a more extreme solution, reconstructive surgery is used. The bones beneath the frontal sinuses are removed, recontoured, and then placed back into the facial structure using titanium biocompatible plates and screws. Forehead contouring is often performed in tandem with brow lift and hairline advancement, among other facial feminization treatments.

What will my recovery entail?

An overnight stay is usually required after forehead contouring. Swelling, discomfort and bruising is normal, and can be well controlled with prescription pain medications from your surgeon. Most clients can return to normal activities within 2 weeks, but should avoid vigorous physical activity for at least 4 weeks. Forehead numbness may come and go for up to 1 year.
