Identifying as non-binary, this patient is 2 months post op from Buttonhole Mastectomy. In order to preserve sensation, the nipples and areolas remained attached to the underlying tissue; however, they were still reduced in size per the patient’s request. This is in contrast to a Double Incision Mastectomy, in which the nipples and areolas are completely removed, then placed back on the chest as skin grafts. The redness of the incisions is typical at this point in time, and will fade by 1 year.
